Continue to Bloom

All our plant babies are growing up, getting taller, and blooming.  Every morning I can’t wait to open the curtains and see them.

My husband and I have had to make a few adjustments in their care.  We were both watering and realized some of them were getting more than they could handle.  When you hear the plants groan as you approach with a watering can, you know it’s time to back off the water.

So we decided that he would water, which he likes to do and has a schedule for.  I’m in charge of deadheading, which he doesn’t like to do, but I do.  It satisfies my desire for neatness.

I love to go out after dinner when it’s cooler and prune the flowers that have finished blooming.  It’s quiet.  I take my time and focus only on the flowers. It’s meditation in motion for me.

Those that I prune have completed their work, done what they came to do. By pruning them away, the plant can concentrate on pouring its energy into new growth.

Kind of like we do in life.  We work on things, pursue interests and then there comes a time when we should move on and pour our energy into new things so we can continue to bloom.

On Facebook, I talk about nature, poetry, and the life of a writer.
I’d love for you to follow me there!

Lynn H. Wyvill grew up in Washington DC where her favorite activity was sitting under a Japanese red maple tree, watching clouds create pictures in the sky. As a writer, she finds peace and inspiration when hiking in the woods, strolling on sandy beaches, and observing nature’s show in her backyard. Those experiences are captured in her first book, Nature’s Quiet Wisdom. Before writing books, Lynn worked as a radio/TV reporter and writer for the US Department of Agriculture and owned a consulting business that trained professionals on the creation and delivery of effective presentations. She is a lifelong learner, avid reader, small town explorer, and dedicated theater attendee who lives in beautiful Virginia with her husband.
