What You See

We’ve all heard the “what you see is what you get” saying. It’s true sometimes, but not always.

The beginning of a new year for me always starts in September.

I was hiking not long ago and found what I thought was a frayed black and white rope resting on a large, flat rock in the sun.

Sometimes we’re afraid to plant ourselves somewhere new. We’re not sure if we’ll thrive, be happy, and grow. But we take a chance.

The flowers aren’t the only ones wilting. I am, too. My body is fine; it’s my brain that seems parched.

A butterfly balances on the zinnia …
