My New Garden

flowers in pots 1 (2).jpg

We’ve had some warmer weather and sun, so off we went to buy flowers for my garden project, lots of flowers growing in pots.  It was so difficult not to go crazy and buy everything.

They had Boston ferns, two for $20.  My track record with ferns isn’t great and I wasn’t sure where I would put them, so I passed.

The gardenias looked beautiful, but I was told those plants will be available for a while so I held off on that.

The picture above is what I have so far.

I bought a mixed garden container of petunias, verbena, and calibrachoa.  A Blue Eyed Beauty African daisy with its beautiful yellow face and purple center caught my eye.  I just had to have it.  I thought a white geranium  would make a nice contrast.  Then we saw some red flowers, called Fruit Punch – Maraschino, that reminded me of a wild flower garden.

These flowers join the red geraniums, marigolds and zinnias that will be planted soon and the herbs.  I also have English and Munstead lavender in planters out front.  I’m hoping I get some really good fragrance from those.

My husband thinks I’m done, but I’m just getting started!

On Facebook, I talk about nature, poetry, and the life of a writer.
I’d love for you to follow me there!

Lynn H. Wyvill grew up in Washington DC where her favorite activity was sitting under a Japanese red maple tree, watching clouds create pictures in the sky. As a writer, she finds peace and inspiration when hiking in the woods, strolling on sandy beaches, and observing nature’s show in her backyard. Those experiences are captured in her first book, Nature’s Quiet Wisdom. Before writing books, Lynn worked as a radio/TV reporter and writer for the US Department of Agriculture and owned a consulting business that trained professionals on the creation and delivery of effective presentations. She is a lifelong learner, avid reader, small town explorer, and dedicated theater attendee who lives in beautiful Virginia with her husband.
