Bunny Patrol

The twitch of a rabbit’s ears or the fluff of a cotton ball tail as a bunny disappears into the weeds is irresistible to me.

That’s why I’m always on “Bunny Patrol” whenever I walk or drive out of our development.  The rabbits come out of the woods and brush along a farm field, usually early in the morning and in the late afternoon.  Sometimes, they are easy to spot, but frequently I have to look carefully to see them near the tall grass.

Some of them are tame enough to sit and let me watch them for a while before they scamper off.  Others are very shy and run off as soon as they know they’ve been spotted.

If I see one bunny, it’s a great day.  But when I see more, like the other day when there were six, it’s a fabulous day!  If a baby bunny is among them, well, that is truly special.

So today, when I saw no rabbits at all on my early morning walk, I was so disappointed. Because at least one bunny a day on “Bunny Patrol” brings me great joy and makes my day perfect.

On Facebook, I talk about nature, poetry, and the life of a writer.
I’d love for you to follow me there!

Lynn H. Wyvill grew up in Washington DC where her favorite activity was sitting under a Japanese red maple tree, watching clouds create pictures in the sky. As a writer, she finds peace and inspiration when hiking in the woods, strolling on sandy beaches, and observing nature’s show in her backyard. Those experiences are captured in her first book, Nature’s Quiet Wisdom. Before writing books, Lynn worked as a radio/TV reporter and writer for the US Department of Agriculture and owned a consulting business that trained professionals on the creation and delivery of effective presentations. She is a lifelong learner, avid reader, small town explorer, and dedicated theater attendee who lives in beautiful Virginia with her husband.
